Current & Upcoming Events:

Lions school chess activities started in October and currently follow the schedule below.
Note that in addition to chess clubs at schools there is a Chess Workshop  every Thursday from 3:00 to 5:00 pm
at the Popular Community Bank (formerly Banco Popular) , 1701 N. Euclid, in the community room in the back of
the building. All students in the Fullerton School District or living in Fullerton are invited to attend. 
The workshop features free play, group and individual instruction, puzzle contests and speed chess.

CHESS TOURNAMENTS
– separate sections at each grade level:

38th MORRISON SCHOLASTIC CHESS TOURNAMENT:

DATE: SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 4, 2012

LOCATION: Ladera Vista Junior High Multipurpose Room & Gym, 1700 E. Wilshire Ave, Fullerton, CA 92831,
(714) 447-7765. Directions: Take the 91 Fwy to State College, go north to Commonwealth Ave., turn left and go
to Acacia Ave., turn right to E. Wilshire on the corner of Acacia Ave. and Wilshire Ave.

REGISTRATION: GRADES K-12. Send your registration by e-mail to Amchesseq@aol.com. Please provide name,
grade and school. There is NO entry fee as the tournament is FREE to all scholastic players (K-12). In addition, this
tournament does not require a USCF membership to be able to play and will not impact any national ratings.
Site registration is permitted, but not recommended.

EQUIPMENT: All equipment will be provided.

PLAY SCHEDULE: The tournament will run as a Round Robin event. All players will be separated into sections
by grade level and during the tournament they will play against every person in their section. Tournament play
will begin at 10:00 AM with K-3 in the Gym and 4-12 in the Multipurpose Room. Play will continue till 12:00 Noon,
at which time the tournament hall will be closed and players released for a 1 hour lunch break.
At 1:00 PM tournament play will resume and continue until all games are completed or 3 PM.

PRIZES: A trophy will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place players in each section of each grade.
Trophies will be given out as sections complete all of their games.
